Permits for Ansvar–Polcirkeln FVO are sold directly by the FVO at kalix.laxportalen.se (not via iFiske). Four permits are offered, split into two tiers — Strand (shore fishing only) and Båt/Strand (boat + shore) — each as either a 24-hour daily or a calendar-year annual card. Sea trout is catch & release only; salmon fishing fully stops after 15 August.
Rules & Regulations
Welcome to Ansvar–Polcirkeln FVO on the Kalix river, just north of the Arctic Circle. Permits are sold directly by the FVO at kalix.laxportalen.se (not via iFiske). Two permit tiers are available — shore-only (Strand) and boat + shore (Båt/Strand) — each as either a 24-hour daily or a calendar-year annual card.
Minimum sizes
- Salmon: 50 cm.
- Grayling: 35 cm.
Sea trout
Sea trout fishing is catch & release only — all sea trout must be released.
Bag limits
- Grayling: max 3 grayling per week may be retained; after that all grayling caught the rest of the week must be released.
- Salmon: max 5 salmon per angler across the whole season; after the season quota is filled all further salmon must be released.
Closed seasons
- Salmon: total stop after 15 August (all salmon released after this date).
- Grayling: closed 1 January – 9 June.
- Ice fishing for grayling is forbidden.
Boat / trolling
- Max 4 rods per trolling boat.
- Anyone over 18 in a trolling boat is counted as an angler and requires their own permit.
- Boat fishing requires the Båt/Strand permit (Strand permit covers shore only).
