About Rivory

Rivory is an independent platform that brings data from Atlantic salmon rivers across Scandinavia into one place. It started as a personal tool — a developer’s side project for planning trips north — and grew into the site at rivory.eu.

Why it exists

Planning a salmon trip can feel like a research project: SMHI for water levels, local sites for migration counts, weather services, operator portals for season status, and forums for catch reports. Most of the data is public, but it lives in separate places and rarely in a form that lets you compare rivers side by side.

Rivory brings flow, weather, water temperature, migration counts and catch reports into one view. You can see how this week compares with a river’s own historical range and decide whether the conditions are worth the trip.

What’s included

Rivers — major salmon rivers in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland, with live conditions, zones, permits and access.

  • Migration — real counts from fish counters, updated through the season.
  • Weather & flow — hourly forecasts, historical river levels and water temperature.
  • Guides & lodges — curated contacts for trips, instruction and accommodation.
  • Articles & photos — stories, technique pieces and river reports from the rivers.

About the data

Sources are public: SMHI Vattenwebb, Open-Meteo, regional fish-counter portals and fishery operators. On top of those, Rivory adds its own daily processing — for example, a normalized “catch index” that compares a river’s current week with its own historical range, instead of using a raw number that means little on its own.

Sources are credited on each data view. If something looks wrong, please get in touch.

Independent, free, no ads

Rivory is not affiliated with any fishery, lodge or operator. Listings are editorial — nobody paid to be on the map. The site is free and there are no ads. If that ever changes, it will be stated clearly.
