Mörrumsån
Mörrumsån is one of Sweden’s best-known salmon and sea-trout rivers. It enters the Baltic Sea in Blekinge and is centred on Mörrums Kronolaxfiske, the managed fishery in and around Mörrum.
Its reputation is built on history, scale and fish size. Salmon fishing in Mörrum was first described in 1231. Sveaskog reports around 10,000 fishing days each year and about 250,000 annual visitors to Laxens Hus. The river is also linked with record fish, including the 18.36 kg trout caught in 1993.
The official salmon and sea-trout season runs from 1 March to 30 September. Early-season fishing is a major part of Mörrum’s identity, but March should be read correctly: premiere fishing is mainly aimed at kelts, with chances of fresh sea trout.

Season and key rules
The salmon and sea-trout season on Mörrums Kronolaxfiske water runs from 1 March to 30 September. Opening-day fishing is 09:00–17:00. Normal season fishing is 05:00–02:00. On 30 September, fishing is 05:00–00:00.
The retained quota is 1 killed salmonid per person per day and 2 killed fish per person per season. Salmon, sea trout and hybrids count toward the quota. The total fishery quota is 100 killed fish across Mörrums Kronolaxfiske waters.
After killing one fish, fishing stops for the day. If the fish is released alive, fishing may continue. Salmon, sea trout and hybrids under 50 cm must be released immediately.
All salmon caught, released or killed, must be registered on the day of the catch.
Early season
The official season starts on 1 March. Sveaskog’s 2026 premiere package is scheduled for 20–22 March, with fishing on 21 March.
Premiere fishing is mainly aimed at kelts, with chances of fresh sea trout. Do not treat March as a standard fresh-salmon period.
March and April can mean cold, heavy water. Sveaskog describes early-season water levels of about 100–30 m³/s and water temperatures of about 0–10°C. Fly anglers often need full sinking lines or sinking heads / tips to reach the fish. Spin anglers may need heavier lures, up to about 40 g.

River character and stretches
Mörrumsån is a managed salmon and sea-trout fishery with named pools, permits, quotas and controlled access.
Pool 1–32 is the classic lower-river stretch: about 7 km from Rosendala to Elleholm, divided into 32 pools.
Kungsbron splits this stretch into two different settings. Pool 17–32, upstream of the bridge, run through oak and beech forest. Pool 1–16, downstream of the bridge, run mostly through agricultural land.
The best fishing spots change with season and water level. Early-season fishing often means getting the fly or lure down in cold, heavier water. Later in the season, pool choice, water level and fishing pressure become just as important as the general river name.
VSKH covers Vittskövle, Svängsta, Knaggalid and Härnäs. These waters are handled separately from Pool 1–32 in some permit and package setups.
Fisheries, stretches and permits
Mörrums Kronolaxfiske is the main salmon and sea-trout fishery. A personal fishing licence is required and must be carried with identification during fishing inspections.
Pool 1–32 is the classic lower-river water, with 32 named pools over about 7 km.
VSKH means Vittskövle, Svängsta, Knaggalid and Härnäs.

- You ignore the total seasonal quota and arrive after kill fishing has closed.
- You forget same-day salmon registration.
- You plan normal hours for opening day.
- You treat March as a normal fresh-salmon period.
- You fish March / April water with a light low-water setup and fail to get the fly or lure down.
